Taylor Swift director defends 'colonial' Africa video
The director of the new video of Taylor Swift has defended after review represents a whitewashed version of Africa.Video of dreams had been accused of glamorizing "white colonial fantasy of Africa".
But director Joseph Kahn has said "is not a video about colonialism but a love story on the set of a period film crew in Africa 1950".
SWIFT has not commented on the controversy surrounding the video.
Kahn denied in a statement that video includes only white people.
"The reality is not only were people of color in the video, but the key creative who worked on this video are people of color."
He notes that it is Asian, while producer and editor Jill Hardin Chancler Haynes are African American.
"We decided collectively would have been historically inaccurate to load the team with the most black actors as the video he would have been accused of rewriting history.
"This video is in the past by an established team in this and we are all proud of our work.
"There are black Africans in the video in a number of shots, but rarely cut to the faces of the team were the director and the vast majority of screen time is Taylor and Scott (Eastwood) ''.
The video has been viewed over 19 million times since it was released on Monday, but the criticism was rushed into operation.
